The shape will allow you to hold it in your hand or flat on a table. (The bottom is perfectly flat)
Designed with a groove on its side, it allows you to attach an elastic band to hold the fabric / sock in place.
There is NO finish on these pieces as it helps with grip. Sanded smooth, it will never snag even the most delicate of fabrics.
